A dormer loft is usually required when there is not enough space within the existing loft area. A dormer loft creates extra headroom by extending vertically through a sloping roof. Dormers are ideal for extending small loft areas and maximising the available space. Dormer conversions are generally used on terrace houses.
A Velux loft conversion makes use of the available loft space and is constructed around the existing roofline. If you have enough existing roof space then a Velux loft conversion can be less hassle and often requires no planning permission. Velux conversions work well for adding extra rooms to your property such as an additional bedroom or office space.
A Mansard loft conversion is positioned at the rear of the property and combines a flat roof at the peak of the property with a rear sloping wall. A Mansard loft conversion is the ideal solution if you are looking for a stylish way to add an extra room/s to your property.
A Hip to Gable conversion is the name of the process given to maximise the loft space within a semi-detached or detached property. This is usually combined with a rear dormer to guarantee maximum spatial gain.
